Serving Illinois basketball coaches since 1971
The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association is the statewide home for the coaches who serve, teach, and grow the game — at every level, in every district.
Our mission
The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association exists to serve, honor, promote, and develop the game of basketball in Illinois — advocating for, supporting, and celebrating players, officials, media, fans, and our member coaches.
For more than five decades, the IBCA has been the voice, the classroom, and the community for basketball coaches across Illinois. We are here to grow the game and support everyone who gives their time to it.
Our four pillars
Everything the IBCA does falls under four pillars. Together, they're how we keep our promise to Illinois basketball.
SERVE
We empower coaches to make a positive impact on student-athletes on and off the court. We are the voice for coaches with the IHSA and other organizations, provide leadership opportunities, strengthen the connections between coaches across the state, and act as guardians of the game in Illinois.
DEVELOP
We provide professional development, coaching resources, and mentorship for current and rising coaches — through our Statewide Clinic, satellite clinics, coaching roundtables, online resources, and the Coach Connect mentorship program. We build a community where coaches grow together.
HONOR
We celebrate the people who shape the game: inducting members into the IBCA Hall of Fame, naming Coach of the Year winners, selecting All-State and All-Academic teams, running our annual All-Star Games, and recognizing major coaching milestones and lifetime achievements.
PROMOTE
We spotlight coaches statewide, share IBCA news and events, champion scholastic basketball, and serve as the hub for Illinois basketball coaching — through our website, social media, press releases, and a regular email digest.

Our history
Illinois has one of the richest basketball traditions in the country, and the IBCA has been part of it since 1971. Every year we honor that tradition through our awards, our Hall of Fame Banquet, and the records and history we've preserved over the decades. If you have something to share about the history of basketball in Illinois, we'd love to hear from you.

Leadership
The IBCA is guided by an executive board and volunteer committees made up of coaches from across the state — the same people who lead programs, run practices, and mentor players every day.
