The shot clock is coming to Illinois this season. Are you ready?

Every varsity program in the state coaches its first season with a 35-second clock this winter. The IBCA is holding free roundtables across Illinois this fall so you can hear the rules and points of emphasis directly from IHSA-certified officials, then sit down with coaches from your area and work through what it changes — late clock, two-for-one, when to foul, and how to staff the table.

Pick the site closest to you, RSVP below, and bring your staff. Roundtables are free to all IBCA members. Officials and scorer's-table workers are welcome and do not need to be members.

What to expect

Roundtable agenda

Every site runs the same format. Plan on roughly ninety minutes.

  1. 1

    Introduction by the site manager

  2. 2

    Presentation by an IHSA official

Shot clock rules, this season's points of emphasis, and your questions.

  3. 3

    Roundtable discussion

A short discussion of the format, then the questions every staff in the room is wrestling with:

    • How are you changing your offensive and defensive systems to account for the clock?
    • Will you go two-for-one at the end of quarters — and how?
    • What do you run on offense at the end of the shot clock?
    • What do you do on defense at the end of the shot clock?
    • When do you foul at the end of games now?
    • How will you staff the scorer's table?
    • How will you use the shot clock in practice?
